There are an increasing number of virtual worlds, in addition to Second Life®, that offer virtual experiences to educators and students. I stopped by Heritage Key the other day to view their King Tut’s Tomb exhibit, and brought back the photos below. HK is still in its alpha version and doesn’t run quite as smoothly as Second Life yet, but it will catch up. You do need to create an account and download a viewer, which uses Second Life technology, so the viewer and the navigation in HK will be familiar to SL avatars. Currently, HK is much like a virtual museum, and a good one, but I hope it evolves to offer more creative experiences for the average user. In the meantime, enjoy the photos. The space was accompanied by professional audio narrations of the meaning of the wall drawings, adding to the value of the experience.
